Benefits of Ripe Bananas

Recent study by Japanese researchers has found a very interesting fact about bananas. It turns out that as banana ripens it produces antioxidant and anticancer properties. Full ripe banana with dark patches on yellow skin produces a substance called TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) which has the capacity to combat abnormal cells. The study also shows that darker patches it has the higher its anti-cancer quality will be. Moreover, Yellow skin banana with dark spots on it is eight times more effective in enhancing body’s immune system than green skin version.

Therefore, it is best to eat banana when it is fully ripe. But if you have type 2 diabetes or you are avoiding a fast increase in your blood sugar levels, you could consider eating the ripe banana with nut butter – since fat slows down the absorption of sugars into your blood stream. Or you can simply eat the banana while it’s still greenish (level 3 or 4 in the pic)

Skin Cancer Treatment

- Raw organic coconut oil (the brand I used was Artisana)
- Aluminum-free baking soda (I purchased it at a holistic health food store)
- A shot glass, to effectively stir the mixture within
- Something to stir the mixture with, I used the narrow handle of a small metal spoon.
- Polysporin Triple 3 Antibiotics, or any other antibiotic ointment to apply at night

I stirred 1 part baking soda and 1 part coconut oil in a shot glass until it became a malleable paste that was easy to apply. It helped to apply a bit of warmth to melt the coconut oil faster – I let the shot glass run under hot water for a bit.

Using the handle of the spoon that I stirred with, I applied the mixture to the affected area. I DID NOT RUB IT IN. Instead I gently slathered the area with the paste and let it remain there for as long as possible. Then I applied a shower cap to keep the treatment in place.

I aimed for 3 applications a day for the first week, and 2 for the second week moving forward, and made sure to properly clean the affected area before each application.

A basal cell has roots that reach much deeper into the skin than it appears, it is not just on the surface, therefor I learned that it is important to continue using the treatment much longer, even when the skin has fully patched up.
What We All Learned From This Experience

Looking back at the start of this whole experience, I realize that I was just as skeptical as most people with regards to a successful treatment that costs only a few dollars, not to mention one that is sitting in my kitchen pantry! I completely understand why a simple solution like baking soda and coconut oil would be cast aside in favor of a more ‘sophisticated’ treatment.

While I am by no means completely against mainstream or allopathic medicine, it is my opinion that we have been heavily conditioned by the medical industry to believe that we have absolutely no power over our own physical and mental health, and that the solutions and cures to our ailments lie far beyond our reach; that only a large sum of money can buy a cure.
I can’t stress enough that this is simply not true.

Throughout the progress of my mother’s healing, my whole family had experienced first hand how effective an alternative treatment can be. Not only is it effective – it is affordable, safe, and free of side-effects. Needless to say, my family’s opinion on mainstream/allopathic medicine has shifted significantly.

My hope is that people who are going through a similar experience can come to understand the power is in their hands to heal themselves. No one is going to spoon-feed us the truth about how we can heal using simple and affordable methods – especially not the medical industry. We must do our own research and reclaim our healing power.
****UPDATE July 5, 2014****

Hi everyone! I just wanted to update you all on what has been happening with my mother and the basal cell. As my article states and the pictures show, the entire skin surface did clear up by the beginning of March.

Sometime in April I accompanied my mother on a visit to her doctor in order to relay the details of this whole experience to her, and I brought pictures which documented the process. The doctor was very impressed at the response of the basal cell to the coconut oil and baking soda. But to be safe she referred my mother to a dermatologist (another one this time, who is apparently very good) so that a more expertise assessment can be made and a biopsy can be done. This appointment is scheduled for mid July.

We stopped using the treatment in April – partly because we got extremely busy planning for a big trip in May, and partly because we were curious to see what would happen if we just left the affected area alone, without any treatment. The area stayed clear until the first week of June.

At the beginning of June we noticed the small lesion returning, in its usual place. We were on vacation at the time and waited until we returned to resume treatment. Toward the end of June we started applying the baking soda and coconut oil, with a cotton pad soaked in organic apple cider vinegar placed on top. Within only a day the skin started to clear up again. The scabbing fell away on the first day and within 2 days the area had patched itself up. We are continuing to use the treatment.

It is evident that the treatment is working on a surface level. The cancer seems to respond by shrinking away and clearing up. But basal cells have roots under the surface of the skin. We are trying to ascertain at this point whether the treatment will eventually eradicate the root of the basal cell if we keep using it, even when the skin surface is completely clear.

Another thing I must note, which I’m trying to get my mother to understand, is that the process of healing cancer is holistic, meaning it is not just a silver bullet solution that heals it (in this case a topical application). It is an amalgamation of different healing modalities which work to keep the body, mind and spirit in a vibration which cancer can’t thrive in. This includes a healthy diet and lifestyle, the elimination of toxins from the body, a positive mindset, and the integration of other healing practices such as reiki, acupuncture and yoga/meditation.

I have been hearing from other people’s personal experience that taking certain vitamins and supplements was very helpful in combating their skin cancer, in conjunction with a topical application. It makes sense, since proper nutrition allows the body to heal itself. We are going to look into this for my mother.

I will once again make an update to this article upon receiving further information and results.

  营养成分:火龙果营养丰富,每100克火龙果果肉中,含水分83.75克、灰分0.34克、粗脂肪0.17克、粗蛋白0.62克、粗纤维1.21克、碳水化合物13.91克、维生素C5.22克、果糖2.83克、葡萄糖7.83克、钙6.3-8.8毫克、磷30.2-36.1毫克、铁0.55- 0.65毫克和大量花青素(红肉果品种最丰)、水溶性膳食蛋白、植物白蛋白等,可溶性固性物含量12%-13%。

    20世纪90年代初期,欧美等国家的居民因为爱吃红肉又烟酒不忌,心脏病几乎是各个发达国家的头号杀手。然而科学家却发现,法国人同样也爱吃红肉,而心脏病的发病率却不太高。经过研究,原来法国人爱喝红葡萄酒,红葡萄酒中的多酚类成分——白藜芦醇、原青花素等被认为是法国人不易得心脏病的原因。

    什么是多酚?多酚是在植物性食物中发现的,具有潜在促进健康作用的化合物,当前被称为“第七类营养素”。多酚在植物中通常呈现出多种环状物的集合,即许多酚类在一起出现,因此被称为“多酚”。多酚包括酚酸、类黄酮、异黄酮、花青素、单宁、儿茶素、花色苷等。

    抗氧化是多酚的功能活性

    多酚最重要的功能是抗氧化、清除自由基。众所周知,自由基是由氧化反应而产生的对身体有害的物质。自由基几乎攻击体内所有细胞,造成人体组织器官受到破坏,加速机体的衰老进程。自由基过多可引起心脑血管疾病,诱发肿瘤,以及引起老年性痴呆、白内障、糖尿病、肝病、帕金森病及免疫力低下等。由于多酚的结构中有许多共轭双键,即便某些位置的电子被氧化自由基抢走,多酚分子本身也可以利用电子的共振现象而使分子结构不被瓦解,因此可以抵挡自由基的攻击而保护细胞。同时,多酚对多种活性氧有清除作用,可将单线态氧还原成活性较低的三线态氧,减少氧自由基的产生,所以又是各种自由基的清除剂。多酚还能与VC和VE等抗氧化剂之间产生协同效应,具有增效剂的作用。因此,从预防心血管疾病来说,多酚可以降低低密度脂蛋白;从抗老化来说,它可以预防自由基攻击细胞,避免细胞造成凋亡;从皮肤抗衰老来说,它可以预防紫外线破坏胶原蛋白合成的作用。

    深色蔬果多酚更多

    要想摄取更多的多酚,最好选择颜色深及多样化的蔬菜和水果,因为像红椒或西红柿等,本身的颜色就是多酚成分。富含多酚的产品以黑葡萄、苹果、黑莓、蓝莓、樱桃、草莓、石榴、柑橘等红、蓝色浆果类居多;蔬菜如胡萝卜、紫色茄子、芹菜、西红柿、菠菜、洋葱、羽衣甘蓝、西兰花、菜豆、小葱、莴苣、黄瓜等含类黄酮居多;谷物以玉米面、高粱含单宁较多;豆类以黄豆含异黄酮最多;茶叶包括绿茶、红茶、乌龙茶及新鲜茶叶含有黄酮醇等茶多酚。均具有较强的抗氧化作用。

    1.葡萄多酚

    葡萄多酚就是葡萄籽的花青素,由法国的马斯魁勒博士研究发现。葡萄多酚其实和红葡萄洒多酚差不多,它是从葡萄皮和葡萄籽中所萃取,具有降低低密度脂蛋白胆固醇的作用。葡萄多酚能预防老年听力减退,还能防止前列腺癌细胞的增长,对预防紫外腺损伤,抗皮肤老化都有一定作用。

    2.苹果多酚

    苹果多酚的抗氧化、清除自由基的能力是VE的50倍,VC的20倍。在心血管舒张、动脉硬化、视力退化、过敏、龋齿、中风等病症中都具有较高的疗效,据说它是唯一可以通过血脑屏障而进入大脑,增强脑血管及脑细胞抗氧化作用的多酚类。

    据日本弘前大学研究,苹果多酚能抑制癌细胞,而延长罹患癌症老鼠的寿命;芬兰的研究则发现苹果能清除血管壁脂质,多吃苹果能降低46%的肺癌罹患率。法国的研究显示,苹果多酚能预防结肠癌;美国康乃尔大学的研究则认为,苹果多酚能预防老年失智及帕金森综合症。

    3.茶多酚

    除茶叶外,茶多酚在其他植物中无法找到。茶多酚具有降低血中胆固醇的效果;还能预防肥胖,甚至也有抑制肿瘤的作用。美国亚利桑那大学的研究也发现,一天喝4杯茶就有预防皮肤癌的效果。研究报告证实,茶叶有防止放射线伤害功能,其他还有预防胃癌、龋齿、降低血压及抑制血糖的多种研究报告。

    4.蓝莓多酚

    美国《农业与食物化学期刊》曾经刊载,蓝莓酒比红葡萄酒含有更高的抗氧化的多酚。蓝莓的临床研究是用于保护眼睛,预防黄斑部病变。不管是用于抗老化、保护血管、控制血糖、维护脑细胞健康等,蓝莓多酚绝不亚于葡萄酒或蔓越莓等其他浆果类多酚。

    5.橄榄多酚

    科学家已经发现,橄榄油保护心血管的作用仅不是单不饱和脂肪酸,其中所含的多酚作用可能更加胜于它。据西班牙大学研究发现,橄榄油多酚能使血管内皮细胞分泌更多的一氧化氮,让血管放松而使血压降低。橄榄油多酚还能促使胰岛细胞分泌胰岛素,并增加身体对葡萄糖的利用,因而能降低血糖。橄榄油多酚也能抑制低密度胆固醇的氧化,预防对心血管的破坏。

    6.青花椰菜多酚

    青花椰菜素多酚,能预防血液凝块引发血栓,保护心脑血管。青花椰菜多酚的抗氧化作用比维生素C高20倍,它主要的多酚成分“檞黄素”不仅抗氧化作用强,还能保护神经细胞,并且具有杀死病毒的作用,难怪美国人对青花椰菜那么推崇。

    7.香椿多酚

    香椿是中国人爱吃的特有食物,研究发现香椿多酚具有多种功效,它不仅降低低密度脂蛋白胆固醇,还有助于老化的老鼠提高脑活性,增加学习力。在实验室研究中还发现,香椿具有诱导癌细胞凋亡的作用。

    最健康的多酚餐——地中海饮食

    想要吃进最多的多酚,需要选用多种综合蔬菜水果,地中海饮食就是被公认的最健康的多酚餐。

    地中海饮食主要是将很多蔬菜,像各种颜色的甜椒、紫色的茄子、红色的西红柿,还有洋葱和大蒜末,拌上橄榄油再加上少量的肉类和一些杂粮面包的饮食。地中海饮食中的蔬果大多只有稍微汆烫,能保留更多的多酚。橄榄油本身就富含多酚,70%是单不饱和脂肪酸,比一般植物油更不容易被氧化,却具有保护心脏的作用。

    另外,红葡萄酒中也富含多酚,总酚每立升含955~1300棓酸当量。但喝红酒必须适可而止,一天超过两杯可能会造成反作用。法国人的红葡萄酒消耗量几乎是美国人的10倍,虽然患心脏病较少,但法国人肝硬化、胃癌罹患率却是美国的一倍以上。所以身体不适合摄取酒精的人,可以用红葡萄汁来代替。当前流行的“五行蔬菜汤”,具有多种色彩,也是一种不错的多酚餐。

Sweet poison: Star fruit neurotoxin identified

(Phys.org) —Patients with kidney disease have to watch what they eat: bananas, oranges, tomatoes, nuts, broccoli, and beans are all off-limits. Putting star fruit or carambola on the menu would be downright dangerous. This fruit contains a substance that is a deadly neurotoxin for people with kidney disease. Brazilian researchers have now isolated and identified this neurotoxin. As they report in the journal Angewandte Chemie, it is an amino acid similar to phenylalanine.

People suffering from chronic  have to avoid eating star fruit if they value their lives. Around the world, many cases have been documented in which ingestion of the yellow star-shaped fruit led to poisoning of dialysis patients and people with kidney disease. There are a variety of symptoms: from intractable hiccups, vomiting, weakness, mental confusion, and psychomotor agitation, to unusually long-lasting epileptic seizures, coma, and death. In acute cases, only hemodialysis can save the patient.

It is clear that star fruit contains an unidentified neurotoxin that healthy people clear out through the kidneys without problems. In those with kidney disease, however, the toxin accumulates and can eventually enter the brain. A team at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) has now been able to unmask the culprit.

To do this, scientists led by Norberto Garcia-Cairasco and Norberto P. Lopes modeled star fruit poisoning in animals. They gave either crude extracts of star fruit to animals with experimental kidney disease (to mimic the patient´s ingestion) or injected extracts of star fruit into the brains of healthy rats, inducing the behavioral and electrographical seizures typical of star fruit poisoning. The extracts were fractionated by means of chromatographic procedures and each individual fraction tested for activity. Active fractions were then chromatographically separated and tested again. This process was repeated until a single substance responsible for the seizures was isolated. The researchers named it caramboxin.

By using a variety of spectroscopic techniques, the scientists were able to determine the structure of caramboxin. The main structure of the neurotoxin resembles that of the amino acid phenylalanine. In contrast to the natural amino acid, the phenol ring of the toxin is also bound to extra ether, alcohol, and acid groups.

Further tests revealed that caramboxin acts on AMPA and kainate receptors, two important glutamate-controlled neurotransmitter receptors of the central nervous system. This causes hyperexcitability in the brain, resulting in the typically observed seizures, which showed neurodegenerative effects in the study.

  杨桃对于肾病患者来说的确可成为杀手,食之不慎可能带来生命危险。但由于这种毒性作用对人群的影响面较小,所以长期以来未引起人们的关注。
  杨桃是产于南亚热带和亚热带地区的一种水果,在我国多产于广东、广西、云南、福建、海南、台湾等地,因其价格低廉、味道鲜美多汁,所以深受广大群众的喜爱。中医认为,夏天吃杨桃可清热解毒、生津止渴、润肺化痰、下气和中、利尿通淋。民间认为,吃杨桃能治身热烦渴、风热咳嗽、口腔糜烂、咽喉肿痛、牙痛、骨节风痛、痈、疽、肿、毒和跌打肿痛等。
  吃杨桃虽然好处颇多,但对于部分肾病患者来说,吃杨桃就有可能使病情加重。杨桃加重肾损害的机制目前尚不清楚,可能与以下因素有关:
  1.杨桃中含有一种天然毒素,这种毒素的成分还不是十分清楚。但动物实验证实,杨桃含有刺激性神经毒素,这种神经毒素可能是草酸盐。草酸盐具有肾脏毒性,会损伤肾小球毛细血管基底膜和上皮细胞,导致血尿,但此说法并没有经过大规模的临床试验证实。
  2.对于有肾脏基础疾病或尿毒症的患者,因神经毒素排出障碍,会进一步加重肾脏损害。
  3.杨桃引起血尿的发生机制与变态反应有关。杨桃作为抗原物质进入体内,由于机体的超敏状态而引起病理反应,导致肾组织损伤而产生血尿。但变态反应发生机制极其复杂,要阐明其引起血尿的详细机制,还需进一步研究。
  有学者观察到,原本肾功能正常的人在饥饿状态下,或者大量出汗后(机体处于缺水状态),于短时间内吃进大量的酸杨桃汁,血肌酐会突然升高,出现急性肾功能衰竭。肾病患者若食用杨桃过多,其所含的神经毒素会使部分肾病患者出现神志不清、四肢无力和手脚麻木等症状,甚至昏迷。而肾功能衰竭患者即使吃一个杨桃,也会出现不同程度的毒性反应,重者会使病情迅速发展成尿毒症,甚至死亡。
  为安全起见,肾功能不好者尽量不要吃杨桃。此外,肾脏病患者最好不要吃含钾高的水果,如葡萄和橙子等。

西医更证明,苦瓜的抗癌功效来自一种类奎宁蛋白,它是一种能激活免疫细胞的活性蛋白,通过免疫细胞做“二传手”,将癌细胞或其他不正常的细胞杀掉。苦瓜种子中含有一种蛋白酶抑制剂,能抑制肿瘤细胞分泌蛋白酶,从而抑制癌细胞的侵袭和转移。

3)海带:可预防乳腺癌和甲状腺肿瘤
海带中药名为“昆布”,可预防乳腺癌和甲状腺肿瘤。海带富含碘,能防“大脖子”病在中国已经妇孺皆知,实际上,海带还有其他诸多“本领”,它含的海藻酸钠与具致癌作用的锶、镉有很强的结合能力,并将它们排出体外;海带可选择性杀灭或抑制肠道内能够产生致癌物的细菌,所含的纤维还能促进胆汁酸和胆固醇的排出;海带提取物对各种癌细胞有直接抑制作用。

4)地瓜:逐渐被淡忘的抗癌佳品
小时候冬天捧着香喷喷的烤红薯边暖手边解馋的日子已经淡出不少年轻人的记忆,过去走街串巷的卖烤红薯摊现在几乎无迹可寻,随着经济条件的好转,有调查表明,我国城镇居民不少人已不再食用地瓜。别名甘薯、红薯、白薯,被认为是祛病延年、减肥保健的绝佳食品。其实地瓜也有强大的防癌功能。最近科技人员在地瓜中发现了一种去氢表雄酮的物质,它能预防肠癌和乳腺癌的发生。

5)南瓜:被誉为“神瓜”
在某些国家它被誉为“神瓜”,因为它既可为粮,又可为菜。美国人在感恩节都要吃南瓜,以表示对南瓜的谢意。但是,在我国,现已很少种植。
南瓜可预防肥胖、糖尿并高血脂和高胆固醇血症,对癌症预防有很好的效果,南瓜维生素A的含量之高,是常人无法想象的。另外含有丰富的维生素C、钙质和纤维素,还含有抑制致癌物色氨酸-P的不明成分。

6)麦麸:最好的防癌食物纤维
别名麸子,小麦磨粉时脱下的种皮,用作饲料,不食用。用麦麸喂牲口,皮肤红润,毛发油亮,极显健康状,现麦麸日益受到人们的重视,为了健康,西方不少机构号召人们吃全谷食物、全麦食物。全麦食物即把小麦全粒磨成面粉丁再分出麦麸,用这种粉制成的食品。 麦麸是小麦主要营养成分的“仓库”,B族维生素、硒、镁等矿物质及纤维素几乎都集中在它身上。它能预防并治疗结直肠癌、糖尿并高胆固醇血症、高脂血症、便秘、痔疮等。因此,不少专家认为,麦麸是最好的防癌食物纤维。

What cancer cells feed on?

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Note:Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells will starved.
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.
To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water–best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes.Undigested meat remaining in the intestines will become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
